PSYCHOLOGY TODAY!

Hi I’m Rylee. I am so happy you are here. I am a licensed professional counselor, mom, and counselor! Im deeply passionate about this work and believe that the connection and relationship in the counseling room is the most powerful aspect. It is where you get to explore new habits, communication, feel seen, understood, and so much more.

Many people come to me frustrated that they know their struggles but still feel overwhelmed by them, when past experiences start pushing into the present through emotions and symptoms.

Before I explain how I help heres what to know:

Emotional experiences, particularly traumatic or highly stressful ones, are not stored solely as thoughts or memories. They are also stored through emotions, body sensations, and the nervous system.

Your nervous system is your body's built-in safety system. It is constantly scanning for danger and safety, often outside of your conscious awareness. When something overwhelming, frightening, or emotionally painful happens, the nervous system can learn to stay on high alert in an effort to protect you. Even after the experience has passed, it may continue responding as though a threat is still present.

This can look like anxiety that doesn't seem to make sense, difficulty relaxing, feeling emotionally overwhelmed, shutting down or disconnecting, being highly self-critical, struggling in relationships, or feeling stuck in patterns you wish you could change. These responses are not signs of weakness, they are often signs of a nervous system that has adapted to difficult experiences.

Emotional work matters because lasting change happens when the brain and nervous system have the opportunity to recognize that the danger is no longer occurring. Trauma-focused therapy and EMDR help process and integrate unresolved experiences so they no longer trigger the same level of emotional and physical distress. As the nervous system learns to feel safer, many people experience greater emotional balance, improved resilience, increased self-trust, and a stronger ability to respond to life in the present rather than from the pain of the past.

Sometimes pain takes root in quiet ways. It settles in the body, shapes how we move through the world, how we connect, how we see ourselves. I believe healing isn’t about erasing the past, it’s about making enough space to carry it differently. To breathe again. This is a space for that kind of healing. A place to slow down, be met with warmth, and encouragement to remember your own capacity for change.

More about my life:

I graduated from Idaho State University with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I received my undergraduate degree from Boise State University. In my free time, I enjoy doing anything outdoors, caring for my plants, playing with my kids, spending time with my husband, and watching a good TV show!

Mission Statement

I am dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for individuals healing from complex trauma. I believe that true healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and accepted for who they are, with their full story honored and valued. My approach is grounded in authentic connection, curiosity, and empathy, balancing professional expertise with heartfelt care. I walk alongside my clients with humility and respect, supporting them as they uncover their inner strength, rebuild safety, and move toward lasting growth and empowerment.

Brief descriptions of the types of therapy utilized.

Did you know therapists use many different approaches in counseling? Sometimes what didn’t work before, might simply of not been the right fit for you, or maybe a key stepping stone was missing. Every step you take, even the uncertain ones, brings you closer to healing. There’s hope in trying again, and with the right support, you can discover a new path forward.

Our bodies are naturally designed to protect and adapt, but sometimes we get caught in fight, flight, or freeze — or hold onto habits and routines that no longer serve us. I believe in the healing power of reconnecting your mind and body, being fully present with yourself, and uncovering the deeper “why.” Together, we’ll explore these patterns and develop the skills to regulate, heal, and move forward—with compassion and curiosity.
